Energy Council of South Africa making good progress

The Energy Council of South Africa today held its inaugural board meeting where, amongst other things, the founding members met to adopt its constitution, policies, work plan, budget and organisational structure. “Since the launch on 02 November 2021, significant progress has been made in establishing and progressing the work of the Council. We are also ready to commence the process for appointing a CEO and leadership team to drive the execution of our strategic objectives” said Fleetwood Grobler, Chairperson of the Energy Council of South Africa.

Other key outcomes from the meeting included the establishment of six initial industry workstreams that will be focussed on electricity, renewables, gas, hydrogen, liquid/sustainable fuels and the just transition. These will be championed by senior leaders across the energy sector.

The Council has received expressed interest from a range of companies and associations and anticipates accepting membership applications from March 2022 onwards.
